📍 Two States | One Journey Through the American West

As part of my ongoing 50 States Tour of America, this journey took me through the rugged landscapes of Montana and Wyoming, blending history, nature, and the quiet beauty of America’s mountain west.
This trip marked another step closer to completing all 50 states — with just three states remaining afterward.
🗓 Day 1 — Friday, November 7, 2025
Arrival in Bozeman, Montana
📍 Bozeman
- Arrival in Bozeman, a lively mountain town known for its proximity to Yellowstone and its strong frontier identity
- Pick-up of rental car — essential for navigating Montana’s wide-open distances
- Scenic drive through Bozeman, taking in views of the Gallatin Range
- Evening at leisure to rest and prepare for exploration
Overnight: Bozeman, MT
🗓 Day 2 — Saturday, November 8, 2025
Museum of the Rockies & Montana History
📍 Museum of the Rockies
- Morning visit to the Museum of the Rockies, one of the premier cultural institutions in the region
- Explored world-class dinosaur exhibits, Native American history, and Montana’s frontier past
- Attended the 30-minute planetarium documentary, offering an immersive look at space, science, and the natural universe
- Afternoon free time around Bozeman to enjoy the town’s relaxed pace and mountain backdrop

🗓 Day 3 — Sunday, November 9, 2025
Yellowstone National Park (Montana → Wyoming)
📍 Yellowstone National Park
- Early departure from Bozeman toward Yellowstone National Park
- Scenic drive through mountainous terrain separating Montana and Wyoming
- Notable moment:
- No physical “Welcome to Wyoming” or “Welcome to Montana” sign visible along the narrow mountain stretch
- GPS announced the state change instead — a reminder that safety sometimes trumps signage, especially in rugged terrain
- Entered Yellowstone to experience geothermal features, wildlife habitats, and vast open landscapes
- Crossed fully into Wyoming while inside the park
Overnight: Near Yellowstone / Wyoming side
🗓 Day 4 — Monday, November 10, 2025
Wyoming Landscapes & Return Route
📍 Wyoming
- Continued exploration of Wyoming’s natural scenery
- Reflected on the contrast between Montana’s mountain towns and Wyoming’s expansive openness
- Began return journey toward Montana, retracing scenic routes through the region
- Evening at leisure to unwind after days of driving and exploration
Overnight: Montana
🗓 Day 5 — Tuesday, November 11, 2025
Departure & Reflections
- Final morning in Montana
- Return of rental car
- Departure flight home
This trip reinforced why road access and flexibility are essential when exploring the American West — distances are vast, landscapes are dramatic, and the experience is best enjoyed without rigid schedules.
