Our 2016 Trip to Las Vegas, Nevada

In 2016, we swapped the peaceful streets of Easton, Maryland, for the bright lights and bold energy of Las Vegas—and the trip was packed with unforgettable moments from start to finish. It was the kind of experience you only get in Vegas, where everything feels a little larger than life.

Getting There
We flew out of BWI Airport, and the flight gave us plenty of time to get excited about the adventure ahead. As soon as we landed, the buzz of Las Vegas was undeniable—even the airport had slot machines and neon signs. We were definitely not on the Eastern Shore anymore.

Where We Stayed
Our base for the trip was the Hilton Grand Vacations Club Elara, right in the heart of the action. With its sleek modern design, spacious rooms, and stunning city views, it was the perfect place to relax in between all the excitement. Its direct connection to the Miracle Mile Shops made it easy to grab food, shop, and walk right out to the Strip.

What We Did
We filled our days and nights with classic Vegas experiences. We visited Madame Tussauds Wax Museum, where we posed with incredibly lifelike celebrity figures and had a great time just being playful and snapping photos.

One of the absolute highlights was seeing Michael Jackson ONE by Cirque du Soleil. The energy, music, and acrobatics were simply incredible—an emotional tribute to the King of Pop that stayed with us long after the curtain dropped.

We also ventured out to Fremont Street, where we had a fun and slightly outrageous lunch at the Heart Attack Grill. The waitstaff in nurse outfits, the over-the-top portions, and the playful atmosphere made it an experience we’ll never forget. Only in Vegas could lunch feel like part of a performance!

Food & Exploring
Despite avoiding pork, we had no trouble enjoying Las Vegas’s incredible food scene. From massive buffets to upscale restaurants, there was something for every taste and craving. And when we needed a break from the neon, we headed to Red Rock Canyon for a peaceful change of scenery—the perfect balance to the high energy of the city.

Final Thoughts
Our 2016 Las Vegas adventure was exciting, wild, and filled with unforgettable moments—from the luxury of the Elara to the craziness of the Heart Attack Grill. It was a perfect contrast to life in Easton, and while we were glad to come home to our slower pace, Las Vegas gave us memories that still make us smile.
