August 29 – September 2, 2025
Part of My 50 States Tour of America

✈️ Trip Overview
During the late-summer of 2025, I took another journey across three states — Utah, Wyoming, and Idaho — following historic routes, frontier towns, and landscapes that shaped the American West. Flying into Utah and moving northward and eastward, this trip blended religious history, pioneer heritage, rugged rendezvous culture, and quiet small-town charm.
🗓 Day 1 — Friday, August 29, 2025
Arrival in Salt Lake City, Utah
I flew into Salt Lake City, the capital of Utah and the gateway to this three-state journey. The city immediately stood out for its balance of urban life, faith-based history, and mountain scenery.
Places Visited
- Temple Square — the spiritual and historical heart of the city
- Church History Museum — offering deep insight into the early pioneers and the settlement of the West
- Conference Center — an architectural landmark with sweeping views
- Beehive House — once home to Brigham Young, preserving Utah’s early leadership history
Salt Lake City felt structured, calm, and deeply rooted in purpose — a strong starting point for a trip grounded in history.
🗓 Day 2 — Saturday, August 30, 2025
Syracuse, Utah & Antelope Island State Park
From Salt Lake City, I drove north to Syracuse, where Utah’s natural beauty takes center stage.
Highlights
- Antelope Island State Park — wide-open landscapes, wildlife sightings, and uninterrupted views
- Fielding Garr Ranch — a preserved historic ranch that tells the story of early settlers
- Viewing the Great Salt Lake, one of the most unique natural features in the United States
This day perfectly captured Utah’s contrast: raw nature paired with preserved pioneer history.
🗓 Day 3 — Sunday, August 31, 2025
Corinne, Utah & Golden Spike National Historical Park
I made my way to Corinne, a small but historically powerful town tied to one of America’s greatest engineering achievements.
Highlights
- Visiting Golden Spike National Historical Park, where the Transcontinental Railroad was completed
- Learning how this moment forever changed travel, trade, and national unity
- Exploring Corinne’s quiet historic surroundings
Standing at Golden Spike was a reminder that American progress was built one mile — and one rail — at a time.
🗓 Day 4 — Monday, September 1, 2025
First Stop Outside Utah: Evanston, Wyoming
Crossing into Evanston, this became my first stop outside Utah — and one of the most memorable.
What made Evanston stand out was the combination of history and natural surroundings. Nestled near the Bear River and surrounded by mountains, the city feels both scenic and historically grounded.
Impressions
- Historic brick buildings lining downtown
- Local shops and a noticeably slower pace of life
- A strong sense of Wyoming’s frontier spirit
Evanston may be a small city, but it carries a charm that reflects the resilience and simplicity of the American West.
🗓 Day 5 — Tuesday, September 2, 2025
Fort Bridger, Wyoming & Preston, Idaho
The final day of the trip took me deeper into frontier history and across another state line.
Fort Bridger, Wyoming
At Fort Bridger, I attended the 52nd Annual Fort Bridger Rendezvous, an immersive living-history event.
- Period reenactments
- Traditional clothing and tools
- A powerful glimpse into 19th-century mountain man life
This wasn’t just a visit — it was an experience that brought history to life.
Preston, Idaho
I then crossed into Preston, marking Idaho as the third state on this journey.
Preston offered a quiet, small-town atmosphere that contrasted beautifully with the rugged Wyoming terrain — a fitting and reflective final stop.
🌍 Why This Trip Mattered
This Utah–Wyoming–Idaho journey reinforced why I prioritize places with stories. From railroads and rendezvous to rivers and ranches, this trip followed the physical and cultural routes that shaped the American West.
It wasn’t about rushing — it was about understanding.
